Addax (Addax nasomaculatus), also known as the white antelope and the screw horn antelope. It is an antelope native to the Sahara Desert. The only member of the genus Addax, first described scientifically by Henri de Blainville in 1816. As suggested by its alternative name, the addax has spiral horns that are 24 to 33 in long in females and 28 to 38 in in males. In the winter, its coat is greyish brown with white hindquarters and legs. The long, brown hair on the head, neck, and shoulders; in the summer, turns almost completely white or sandy blonde. Males stand from 41 to 45 in at the shoulder, while females stand from 37 to 43 in. They are sexually dimorphic, as the females are smaller than the males.
The addax lives in arid regions, semideserts, sandy and stony deserts in North Africa. It mainly eats grasses and leaves of shrubs, leguminous herbs and bushes. It can live without water for long periods of time. Addax form herds of five to 20 members, consisting of both males and females. The herd is usually led by one dominant male. Breeding season is at its peak during winter and early spring.
The Hunt Typically occurs on private ranches, primarily in Texas, where introduced populations thrive due to the incredible conservation efforts made possible by the game rancher investments in the promotion of habitat and food source. This conservation effort has helped enhance, the rare addax proliferation. The hunts are often described as challenging due to the animal’s keen senses and ability to blend into its environment, requiring expert hunt guiding and scouting for the pursuit of this magnificent game animal.
Your Gear You will need a firearm of .270 caliber or bow, light weight binoculars and a rangefinder. Essential clothing includes camouflage gear, a sturdy pair of hunting boots, and layered clothing for varying weather.

Exotic Hunting General Information
During your stay at the 5 J Ranch, you will enjoy all meals, beverages, and snacks, as well as expert guide services. Field preparation of your harvest and transportation to local taxidermy for trophy and meat process ing are also provided. Please note, however, that taxidermy and meat processing fees are not included in the package price.
All animals listed on the harvest list are priced individually, with prices subject to change at any time. Prepaid hunting packages and trophy fees are protected from any future price increases until the respective hunt is taken and the animal harvested. In the unlikely event that a hunter must reschedule the hunt, pricing may be subject to a change. On any and all donations prices are subject to change and the donated value shall be applied as a dollar for dollar exchange on the quoted game animal. All other trophy fees will follow the current daily pricing structure.

Management hunts are typically available as an add-on to a guest’s primary hunting package, after their main quarry has been harvested. These hunts help manage the ranch’s wildlife population and offer hunters an additional opportunity while on the 5 J Ranch. Hunters always have the option of utilizing the meat from each harvest or the meat can be donated to one of several causes to feed those in need. The harvest donated may incur a small processing fee with the local taxidermy.
At select times, the 5 J Ranch introduces special hunting packages for promotional purposes. These packages feature limited-time pricing and are available on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring exclusivity and value for interested hunters.

Any hunter who harvests a second game animal within a calendar year, whether during their first hunt or on consecutive hunts, will receive a discount on the second animal. The discount, which is subject to the species and ranch harvest quota, is expected to range between 10% and 15%. Please note that special priced, package priced, or already discounted animals are excluded from this offer.
At 5J Ranch, any animal wounded or recovered is considered a harvest and will be subject to full trophy fees. Blood or sign of impact will be treated as a kill.
Yes. All exotic hunts in Texas require a 5-day non-resident special hunting license. This must be purchased prior to arrival for your hunt.
